Class Guidelines
Preparation for Class
• You are expected to bring pen, notebook for notes, and whatever homework I assigned to class every time.
• If you forget your material you may borrow from me but you must either give me collateral or your daily points. Your collateral or daily points will not be returned until the item is.
Tardy Policy
• Tardy means not in your seat and working when the bell rings.
• Students who are late must bring tardy slips from the office.
• If you are tardy or absent you lose your participation points for the day automatically. These points cannot be made up later.
Absences and Late Work
• If you are absent, you are responsible for getting the work and turning it back into me within two class periods of your absence.
• I do not accept late work. You will be given one homework pass.
Class Discussion
• Class discussion is integral to our comprehension of the materials; students are required to be respectful, articulate, prepared, and attentive.
• Swearing and inappropriate language will not be tolerated.
Food and Drink
• No food or drink is allowed in the classroom except water and food for thought.
Academic Integrity
• Plagiarism is a serious offense and will not be tolerated. If you are caught plagiarizing you will be given a zero for the office and referred to the office.
• Plagiarism goes on your permanent record.
• I will be using web technology to monitor papers for plagiarism.
Passes Out of Class
• You will be allowed 5 passes per quarter
• Passes will only be allowed at appropriate times during class.
Grades
• My grading scale is as follows: 90%+ A, 80%+ B, 70%+ C, 60%+D, 0-59% F
Papers
• All papers must have the students name, the class period, and the date at the top.
• All papers must be written in MLA format and Times New Roman 12 point font.
• All papers must be stapled, double spaced, and printed
• In class writing must be legible or you will receive a zero.
Cell Phones
• Must be off during class or they will be confiscated
